We build web applications for businesses that depend on them
A UK software company. We design, build and look after the custom web applications that businesses run on.
Most of what we build replaces something a business has outgrown: a spreadsheet that three people now depend on, a manual process that takes a day a week, or an old system nobody wants to touch. We start from the problem rather than the technology, and we are happy to tell you when software is not the answer.
Bespoke systems built around how your business actually works, rather than bending your process to fit an off-the-shelf product. Typically that means internal tools, customer portals, booking and scheduling systems, reporting dashboards, or the operational software that sits at the centre of a business and has to be right.
Businesses rarely run on one system. We connect the tools you already use so information moves between them automatically, which removes the re-keying, the exports, and the reconciling of two sets of numbers that disagree. This is often the fastest return on any software spend because it takes work away rather than adding it.
Software is not finished when it launches. We keep applications secure, up to date and running, and we stay available for the changes that come once people have actually used the thing. Available as a retainer for businesses that want a known number each month.
A good share of our work comes through other consultancies and agencies who need extra delivery capacity, a second opinion, or someone to take on a piece of work outside what their team covers. We are comfortable working behind the scenes under your name, and we will not approach your client.
We are deliberately small. There is no account manager relaying messages between you and a delivery team you never meet, which means less is lost on the way and decisions get made in hours rather than weeks.
You should not need to understand the technology to understand what you are buying, what it will cost, or what state it is in. We will explain the trade-offs in terms of what they mean for your business, and we will happily go into the technical detail if that is what you want.
We would rather quote conservatively and deliver early than win the work on an optimistic number and come back for more. If something is going to take longer than expected, you will hear it from us before it becomes a problem, and if we are not the right people for the job we will say so.
You own what we build. We write it so another developer can pick it up, we keep the documentation current, and we do not use anything that locks you into us. Being easy to leave is the point; clients stay because the work is good, not because moving is painful.
Work goes live in small stages rather than disappearing for six months and reappearing as a finished product. You see progress early, you can change direction while changing direction is still cheap, and the risk of building the wrong thing stays small.
Mostly small and mid-sized UK businesses with a process worth automating, and other agencies and consultancies who need extra delivery capacity. We are equally happy being the whole technical side of a small company or one part of a larger in-house team.
Day rate for ongoing and open-ended work, fixed price where the scope is genuinely clear enough to fix, and monthly retainers for support. We will tell you which one suits the work rather than defaulting to whichever suits us.
A focused piece of work can be live within a few weeks. A larger system is usually a few months, delivered in stages so you are using part of it well before the whole thing is finished. We will give you a realistic answer once we understand the problem, not before.
Very few. We take on everything from a couple of days of work through to multi-month builds, and we would rather do a small job well and be there when the next one comes up.
We work remotely by default and are based in the UK, working UK hours. Occasional on-site visits are no problem where a project genuinely calls for it.
You do. The code, the data and the accounts it runs on are yours, and you can take them elsewhere whenever you like.
